Summary
When Juno agrees to help a man by the name of “Mag Ransom” track down his son, his life gets very complicated very quickly. The missing persons case is put on the backburner as he deals with a botched blackmarket deal that ends with Cresus dead in a ditch, the mysterious “Alessandra Strong” on his contacts list, and a handsome socialite named “Dauphin Zolatovna” who would very much like his jade necklace back before his wife Nova worries herself to death. No one in Hyperion City is who they appear to be, and the more Juno looks into things the more dangerous they become.

Summary
Following the THEIA Soul incident, a Dark Matters investigation sucks Juno into stuff he wanted to leave behind. A Soul prototype has been stolen, and after working like, Really Hard to save Hyperion from gentrifying AI once, Juno is unwilling to sit back and let the same thing happen again.
Fortunately Dark Matters is on the same side as him.
Unfortunately they're Dark Matters, and they've done a lot of shady shit.
Specifically they've done some of it to Peter Nureyev.

Summary
The machine - because he knows better than to ask for a name, it would be silly to think he had anything more than a serial number - wonders if this is how thinking usually goes. It seems inefficient to keep asking himself questions instead of just knowing the answers, but maybe that's just the way a mind works - one part to observe and ask, and another part to answer. He just woke up. He does not know how machines work.
(His programming starts to answer, and he tells it to be quiet)
On a rescue mission for Juno, Rita picks up something else.
Sometimes the Dark Matters tech we steal is the friend we make along the way.

Summary
Peter meets Juno when he's still with the HCPD...and Diamond.
__
The officer holds up a plastic cup. “Water?”
Ah—the gruff voice from before. Peter knows better than to refuse. He sidles up off the floor, then shudders from his toes to his fingertips. His ribs feel like a battered marimba. He does his best to fold away the worst of the pain, crosses his legs and holds out his hand. The officer passes him the cup. Peter drinks.
“Come to play good cop, have we?” Peter asks once he’s done.
The officer plucks the empty cup out of his hand. “Pretty sure we both know that’s an oxymoron, but thanks for the vote of confidence.”
