Summary
Rey loses a dare to her co-workers and must go this year to the All Hallows Eve party as a pumpkin with a humiliatingly large pumpkin head. She's lucky she even makes it through the door. She's also shocked to find her boss, Ben Solo, enjoying the party even less than she is.
What could possibly turn those frowns upside down?

Summary
She remembers the wolves from Jakku. They had been mean and scrawny things; their ribs standing out in sharp relief beneath their mangy pelts. They had been dangerous; driven feral by hunger and scarcity.
But not this wolf.
Even at a distance, Rey can see there’s a healthy sheen to its thick, black fur. The beast is massive, all muscle and sinew, and the sheer breadth of them makes her run her hand over the knife hidden beneath her cloak for reassurance. She expected to feel fear coursing through her veins after finally catching a glimpse of the creature who had been roaming the forest near her home. But she feels instead some measure of appreciation for its animalistic beauty.

Summary
Rey is looking forward to her Intro to Archeology class, despite the fact she's really taking it because she needs a humanities credit for her Aerospace Engineering degree. She's expecting Dr. Holdo as her professor, so imagine her surprise when famed archeologist Han Solo shows up instead.
If that weren't enough, she has a sneaking suspicion he's trying to set her up with his attractive but rude son Ben.
This is not how she pictured the end of her sophomore year going.

She’s attractive, Ben notices, her eyes sparkling with mirth as she shoots her friend a smile, all white teeth.
“You can’t be serious,” her friend says.
“No no, she can totally do it,” a shorter Asian woman chimes in.
And—oh—Ben finally looks at the prizes available to win, and it’s full of dildos. Pink and purple and flesh tone ones, all interspersed between run of the mill stuffed animals. There’s even some suctioned onto the inside walls of the claw machine. No wonder that Finn guy was anxious—he wouldn’t trust the cleanliness of the unwrapped ones either.
Or, the one in which Ben Solo meets Rey at a game bar and tries flirting via arcade game tips.

Summary
Ben's defection from the First Order is supposed to make everything different. And it has, for the most part--better. Except Rey can't seem to catch a moment alone with him, and Ben doesn't seem to be making any efforts to be alone with her. The ghost of Crait still hangs over them, but Rey knows this impasse can't last forever.
