Fishing.
It's all Regina knows aside from her name when she wakes. She doesn't know who she is or why she's here. Only knows the calm of the sea, the silence of the nights, and the cities full of lost souls and the wanderers that cross the waters.
Something, a memory, compels her to find a legendary fish, the Wishing Fish, and it's all she does in her day to day, night to night, fish to fish.
She thinks it'll help her memories, but with the help of a wanderer, Emma, maybe she'll figure that out on her own.

When she wakes up, it's dark. She can't move, she can't see, she can't feel and she can't hear.
Where am I?
She feels a forceful oppression, pressing her down, draining her of her energy and she's powerless to stop it.How did I get here?
The question of here is relative, she's not even sure where here is.What happened?
There must be some reason for being stuck here but her memory is fuzzy, like all her thoughts are being sifted through a filter.Who am I?
She's not sure if she actually exists or she suddenly became sentient in the darkness.She hears a voice reverberating in the distance, it's distorted and quiet but she hears it all the same. It breaks the monotony of the silence. Someone's coming for her, they will get her out.
She's just not sure she wants them to as the price might be too great. -

Sometimes she hates having friends. She's only here because her newly made friends moved back to whatever bumfuck place they came from and they wanted her to celebrate Christmas with them and not wallow alone in her apartment as usual. Well, it's turning out even worse than being alone because everyone around her has someone.
Except for one person.
But that person has been a pain in her ass since she stepped foot in this town in the middle of nowhere and no way is she going to sign this sketchy thing with them pretending to date- oh, well, too late for that then, guess she's signing it. Because in the end, she really isn't the only one alone for the holidays, and if this will cure her loneliness - even just for awhile - she'll take it.
(Or, Regina makes Emma sign an agreement for them to fake date AU)

Summary
Emma almost has everything. She's got a wonderful son, a beautiful, tender friend and co-parent, and a family she can count on. It was all she ever dreamed of, once upon a time. At times, she thinks she finally understands what authors mean when they end their story with: they lived happily ever after.
But the feeling always leaves her by the morning. Sometimes she thinks her real happy ending has disappeared somewhere in the past, somewhere in between the curses and forgotten memories. And now it is only a possibility lost to her memories.
If she could go back...
(or in other words, season 6 emma goes back in time and accidentally makes season 1 regina fall in love with her.)

A Medical AU. Regina Mills is the new chief of emergency medicine, and Emma Swan is a gay disaster and resident physician - in that order. The title was the working title I used writing this, and it fit a little too well to change it.

Emma Swan, ten years of age, has decided that she will not get attached to Foster Mother Number Twelve, her new temporary siblings, or anything else that comes with House Number Twelve. Foster homes are not loving, and soon, it would just be another number in the back of her journal, just another house, just another family that didn't want her.
Emma doesn't expect kindness from Foster Mother Number Twelve. She doesn't expect compassion from the girl she's meant to consider her sister. And Emma most certainly doesn't expect Regina, the self-proclaimed smartest girl in her class, to be anything more than the nerd she sits beside.
But maybe House Number Twelve is more than just a number on the back page of her journal. And maybe, just maybe, things aren't as temporary as Emma swears they are.
