After a hellish year, Caroline and Gillian take a day off. Caroline is visited by the Christmas Elf and shenanigans ensue.
Set a couple of years after The Crushing Beauty of the Cosmos because they’re an established couple and living at Caroline’s place, but it can easily be read as a one shot. It’s set at the end of 2020 so Covid is part of it. I borrowed the four-pawed Ruth from S5 for fun too :)
TW: One of them is tied up; it is consensual and they can free themselves whenever they want. No one is hurt.

Stephen asked for a divorce. Irv tried to oust her. Andrea quit. But that wasn't the worst thing to happen to Miranda Priestly that weekend, not by a long shot. Good thing the rest of the season turned out better. (A lot better, as it happens.)

Summary
Runway is the battlefield, not the prize. Miranda Priestly, seductive manipulator and strategist versus Andrea Sachs, Nigel’s replacement and Anna Wintour’s ex-protégé. What, exactly, are they fighting for?
AU in that the story takes place three years after the movie which, incidentally, did not have Andrea in it but another second assistant who tossed the phone in Paris. Miranda is slightly younger (48), the twins are slightly younger, too (9) and she’s been divorced from Stephen for two years. Miranda got Nigel the EIC gig at Runway France. Before he leaves, he has one month to find and train his replacement...Andrea Sachs, recently from Vogue. Andrea is older (35), married to Nate who is a stay-at-home dad to their four year old daughter. I also took the liberty of ‘cherry picking’ scenes/dialogue from the movie for this fanfic disregarding chronology.

Epic story of Andy the Fashion Director who takes over from Nigel, who’s dom at work and sub in the bedroom. Miranda is sharp and clever. Anna is a hoot and the dialogue with Miranda is brilliant. Lots of scenes with the kids, including Andy’s 4 year old, who are darlings. A rollicking ride.
