It was starting to feel like Supergirl had only shown up that night to taunt and argue with her. And for what reason? Lena had no idea. She had thought the two of them were on good terms with each other- maybe even good friends. It didn’t feel that way tonight, however.

Elissa Cousland never expected to be a Grey Warden, but she doesn’t mind it. She can fight evil, develop her gift from her mother’s bloodline to call upon wolves, and pursue real love rather than fulfilling some grim noble duty. She has never been attracted to men, so that freedom matters to her. She just wishes her conscription had not corresponded with the loss of her whole family, or so she fears, as well as her lover.
When she meets the bard-turned-sister, Leliana, she is sure that this will be special. Leliana has a sad past too, a betrayal by her former mentor Marjolaine and an acute regret from Lothering, but together they might be able to help each other heal. But the moral challenges during the Blight, the brutal game of Fereldan politics, and their own dark pasts won’t make it easy for either woman.
(A story that occurs in the same world as my “Spells” series. Can be read as a standalone; no prior reading of other stories needed.)

Something else crashes into Hoth before the Imperial probe droids arrive— an unfamiliar ship with a single mysterious passenger.
None of the Rebels seem to know what to make of the passenger, since none of them realize who she is. And Senator Padmé Amidala is completely unaware of just how far from home she is. Nor how much everything is about to change.

“You do not know me?”
The woman’s voice is thick, low and accented with a lilt Morgana has never heard before. Rough, but pleasing to the ear. It rumbles over Morgana’s skin, leaving gooseflesh in its wake.
“I –“ Morgana hesitates, thrown off by the question. She clutches the runestone harder. As a last resort her plan was to try to send whoever was summoned back through the rift if they proved disagreeable, but this woman is even more formidable and yet somehow less threatening than Morgana could have imagined. “The spell was to find the most powerful being in creation. I didn’t know who would answer the call.”
The woman frowns. “Me? Not her?”
In a desperate attempt to reclaim her throne, Morgana casts a dangerous summoning spell to call for aid. When the call is answered by a woman with no name and an even stranger story, the façade of vengeance and control that Morgana has cultivated so carefully begins to fall apart.

The moment Kara finally sees the sorceress, the hair on the back of her neck stands on end.
She’s not fearsome, really. If anything, she almost looks harmless there, peeking out from under her furs and duvet with eyes still half-lidded, hair tousled from her slumber. Adorable, if witchers were inclined to think such sentimentalities.
But Lena Luthor, small, pale, and sleepy, also exudes such force of magic that it sends Kara’s medallion rattling madly against her chest under her shirt. The witcher’s senses alight with a power unlike any she’s encountered in years and years, a might more fearsome than a roaring dragon’s own.
