Culloden couldn’t be stopped, and Jamie makes the only sacrifice he can think of to ensure his wife and unborn child have a chance of survival and safety. Surviving against all odds, he’s a wanted criminal, with little else to occupy him or keep him going than reliving memories of his wife. While Jamie is living a hermit’s life in a cave, his sister Jenny becomes more and more frustrated and concerned. Believing she must do something before it’s too late, she takes a chance and confronts him.
Meanwhile, Claire honors Jamie’s wishes, no matter how painful. But reuniting with the husband she left behind isn’t so simple, and both she and Frank struggle to accept what may or may not be possible.
When Claire learns Jamie survived Culloden, will fate bring them together again, or are they destined to live apart in the lives they would have had, had the stones not called out to Claire?

Jamie Fraser has taken a job as a youth correctional officer, not the path he saw for himself as a lad. But helping troubled youth gives Jamie the ability to soothe his own soul and scars from the traumas of his past - one that is far too relatable to the young men of Culloden Juvenile Center.
Claire Beauchamp, formerly Beauchamp-Randall, is trying to build a home for herself. The first one she's ever had that was only hers. She takes a job at Culloden Juvenile Center as a resident physician. She packs up all she has in the world and moves to Inverness trying to escape the painful memories of London.
When these two meet, the instant attraction between them is undeniable. But are their pasts too tragic for them to find happiness together? And will the past truly remain in the past? When old ghosts surface, what lengths are Jamie and Claire willing to go to help each other heal? What will they have to relinquish to find their own happiness together?

Would you take a second chance on a first love?
In 1986, Jamie Fraser met Claire Beauchamp while on a skiing holiday in Switzerland. After a whirlwind week together, they head back to their separate lives with a promise to keep in touch. Through circumstances beyond their control, neither could fulfill that promise. Both move on with their lives, but their hearts remain connected, and neither can ever truly let go of their feelings.
Thirty-two years later in 2018, Claire buys a property in Scotland, only to discover that her next door neighbor is Jamie. Can they look beyond the past and forge a new future together?
Now and Then offers readers two very different versions of our favorite characters. We see them as young college students, and again as mature adults. I wanted to write a fic with Jamie and Claire at the approximate age that they are now on the show. There are lots of excellent fics showing younger versions of Claire and Jamie, but precious few showing them over forty. You’ll find plenty of spice, moderate angst, no sexual violence or non-con, and as always, a happy ending. The world needs happy endings!!

Claire Beauchamp has been alone most of her adult life. It’s something she’s grown accustomed to, so she really doesn’t mind.
That is until her friend Geillis recommends a pen pal program where you can write to prisoners. When she starts corresponding with inmate James Fraser, Claire is quick to realise that their kind of connection goes far beyond any walls that keep them apart.
Determined to help Jamie in any way she can, Claire begins to uncover the truth behind Jamie’s crime.
Does he truly belong behind bars? Or are there secrets being kept that even he doesn’t know?
