Summary
He didn't mean to do these things. He's lied to people all his life, he can't just suddenly stop. He's manipulated people to see him the way he wanted them to see him, he can't just be normal.
There was always the choice, 'be himself' or 'be a mutant'. In high school and with his friends he chose to be himself, to wear what he wanted to wear, to look and speak and act the way he wanted to. With the X-Men, he chose to be a mutant, a loud speedster who helped whoever he could, the comic relief that broke the tension and got rid of fear with jokes because that's what people needed from him.
He couldn't be both, he was taught that mutants could never be themselves. Being both just wasn't an option...
...Wasn't it?

Summary
Most crime fighters are heroes, superpowered people who were trained at a young age to beat the bad guys and serve the everyman, born and raised to protect and save the lives of those who couldn't defend themselves. Pretty much every kid wanted to grow up to be a hero, obviously. Fame, fortune, fighting, it was every tiny child's dream, but only a select few were allowed to become heroes, especially not powerless ones.
And that was just Tommy's issue, he was powerless.
It seemed that everyone around him had some sort of quirk or superpower that made them stronger, that gave them incredible abilities like no other, but Tommy, arguably the kid who wanted to be a hero the most, was left untouched by luck.
But that didn't mean he couldn't help out. Far from it, in fact.
Or...
Tommy is a vigilante, kicking ass and fighting crime, but catches the attention of a few familiar faces.

Summary
After being betrayed by someone he idolized, TommyInnit is saved by someone he was told to fear. He doesn't quite understand why they aren't torturing him yet. He's grateful for the pancakes, and the winged hugs, and the childish fights, but he's still waiting for the beating to begin. He doesn't seem to understand that he had a home.

The adrenaline pumped through Tommy’s veins and he could hear his heart pounding in his ears, nearly drowning out the other sounds around him. Out of the corner of his eye, he saw his co-pilot in the passenger’s seat, quite nearly bouncing with excitement. It seemed that no matter how many times they were in this position, the anticipation never seemed to wear off. The car buzzed beneath him, engine revving up, and he kept the steering wheel in an iron grip, knuckles turning white.

Tommy has always wanted to be as great at something as his older brothers. If that something turns out to be illegal street racing in his small town, who's to say it's wrong (besides the law)? At least he has a good team (consisting of Tubbo, Awesamdude, Purpled, Quackity, and Ranboo) to help him along the way! It shouldn't be that hard to keep the fact that he's one of the best street racers in their entire underground syndicate a secret from his family, right?
