Summary
Okay, so this whole idea came to me after reading Fruits Basket Another. There were things in there that made me wonder if Rin become close to Hatori and Mayu after the curse broke and after Hatori and Mayu got together. And if so- what happened to cause it? This is my version of what that could've been. Or at the very least, the first major thing that caused them to become closer.

I just need Kyo and Yuki to be friends all right???
This is the story of how they slowly start to realize they completely misjudged the other one and that everything they thought about them was wrong, and because of that eventually become friends. Not best friends, more sibling-like friends. They'll like each other, but they'll still annoy tf outta each other. Eventually it'll become a mix of "You're one of the few people I respect and like in this family" and "I can tease you whenever I want, but if anybody else does THEY'RE DEAD!" type friendship.....if you understand what I mean by that
But seriously. These two boys SHOULD'VE BEEN FRIENDS!! But the Sohma clan ruined even the possibility of that before they were even born and this is my attempt to make that right

He finds Yuki in a bathroom on the second floor, locked in the last stall down. There’s a dude washing his hands. Haru waits for him to leave. The dude looks at him for a few seconds, like he’s waiting for him to say something, and then dries his hands when he doesn’t.
“Sick hair,” he says on his way out.
“Thanks,” Haru says, and when the door swings shut, Haru locks it.

Summary
Tohru sticks to lighting sparklers when they get down to the beach. The night is close to black, but one after another, the fireworks ignite the air with little peaks and valleys of light. Kyo kicks off his shoes and ends up sitting at the edge of the shoreline. Tohru watches as he skips stones across the water. She lights a new firework, and sparks illuminate the curve of his back, the shade of his hair like something that burns.
The sparkler burns out gently in her hand. She burns a little bit, too.

On the last night of summer vacation, Kyo and Tohru light fireworks on the beach at 3 a.m. and avoid the sparks.
