Summary
Jeralt Eisner, former knight of Seiros, turns up at Garreg Mach half-mad and nearly dead. He rambles about his child being stolen by dark mages before collapsing. Soon after, the students of the Officers Academy are plagued by disturbing stories of the so-called Ashen Demon, an emotionless warrior bent on their destruction. The flames of war rise as Those Who Slither in the Dark are able to step out of the shadows and declare the Agarthan subjugation of Fódlan. Division means death and all houses must join together to face the threat.

Summary
Most of the people of Fódlan know only one deity and she is rarely called by her name.
However, the history of the land predates the War of Heroes. In times of yore, other gods were worshipped instead of a single one until the Church of Seiros began to spread their influence. These deities of old were almost completely forgotten and selected individuals remembered them.
Unlike the Goddess of Fódlan who personally intervened in the continent's history, these deities don't operate this way and never manifested themselves on the land in humanoid form. They are subtle and instead, they would rather choose a willing creature to enact their will.

He cracked his neck to one side, then the other as he turned his back on the man and began his walk back to his private chambers. The man got up, slowly, looking at the composed form of the King of Faerghus walking away from him.
"My name," he said, his shoulders heaving as he tried to keep upright around multiple broken ribs, "Is Felix Hugo, of Fraldarius. And I never intend to let you beat me in a fight again, beast." And with that, he collapsed from exhaustion.

Summary
Shadow War follows the post-war story of the Azure Moon characters, as they try to adapt to peacetime only to be thrown back into mystery, violence and danger once more.
Book 1: Nightshade is the story of Felix & Sylvain hunting down a serial killer that has started leaving bodies in the woods outside Felix's home with the crest of Fraldarius carved into them.
Book 2: Valerian expands on the consequences of what Felix & Sylvain discover while hunting down the killer - another darker, more disturbing war that threatens Fodlan. In this story they are joined by Ferdinand, who goes on a quest to find Hubert after he finds out that Hubert survived the invasion of Enbarr.
