Summary
Adora spent so long using the same mirror on herself whenever Catra wasn't in the room. That mark. It meant Catra. Adora had been so sure. She'd stare at it for minutes at a time and feel warmth bloom in her chest.
Now that warmth is gone, replaced by something closer to lead. There's someone better waiting for Catra. There's someone who, according to the very system Adora subscribes to, is guaranteed to love her in a way Adora fundamentally cannot.
With that heartbreaking realization lodged firmly in her throat, she forces out the only word she can. "Oh."

"I um, I-I guess I started driving a-and I ended up here," Adora points somewhat vaguely in the direction of her car, keys still jingling in her hand. "And I thought-"
"Just tell me what the fuck you want," Catra cuts in.
It's probably a little too harsh. Adora's eyes go wide with something Catra isn't sure she's ever seen her show before: fear. But that isn't Catra's problem. That's the whole point, isn't it? They aren't each other's problem anymore.

“Sure, Professor.” Catra teased. “Can I ask you a question, Professor? Or are you too busy right now?”

Her lip twitched. "I don't think I understand the essay prompt. Mind if I swing by for some help?"

Catra never thought she'd hear those words spoken so boldly. Now they're here, she doesn't know what to do with them. "... What'd you expect?"
"Rain, maybe. You'd meet me at the door. I'd…" Adora momentarily trails off, then pulls out the engagement ring. Her eyes are pleading. Her voice sounds like it's about to break entirely. "I'd propose. You'd say yes... and we'd go home. Please, Catra."

Catra and Adora broke up. Adora wants her back. They spend the night together, but as Catra discovers, maybe they aren't so good for each other after all.
