Sleep is unattainable.
He chases after it in vain night after night. But each time he catches it and holds on for longer than a few minutes, his own subconscious decides to rear its ugly head on him. His dreams don’t tend to be creative or eccentric. They aren’t anything that he doesn’t know already. Summary
They say that isolation is one of the quickest ways to turn a person insane, and in certain ways Five relates a bit too closely to Vanya and Klaus’ childhood imprisonments. He wasn’t trapped in a single prison, a basement cell or a mausoleum, but rather the entire world was his cell. He was the only person alive in the entire world, entirely alone besides Delores.
Five sometimes wonders if he went insane, all alone in that giant prison.
(Other times, he knows he did.)

This body isn't right. It’s too small, too soft, the palms uncalloused and the face too smooth. That scar he got from killing Louis XVII is gone from his knee, the chunk taken out of his ear during his seventh year in the Apocalypse fully healed. He carries no marks of his years of experience.
He sometimes wonders if all the scars he’s gathered since he ended up in this young body constitute some insane attempt at recreating the scars he lost. The shrapnel, the alcohol binges, the gunshot- he knows he was more reckless than usual in his self-imposed mission.
(But some part of him wanted to reclaim some measure of experience on this body, to turn this child-like vessel into something approaching the weapon it used to be.)

A scoff leaves Five’s lips and he rolls his eyes as he turns back to the piano. “I said a little bit, Dolores. The Entertainer. Canon in D. That sort of stuff.” His finger taps lightly atop the key, but still not hard enough to make a sound. “Vanya was the musical one,” he adds quietly.

Summary
Umbrella Academy AU of the Hunger Games, with the Hargreeves siblings as Mentors/former Victors.
District 1: Allison, won the 67th Games by forming alliances and backstabbing everyone (one time literally)
District 2: Luther, won the 65th Games by brute strength and utilizing the metal spikes that rained from the sky at night
District 3: Five, won the 71st Games by using the mines around the Cornucopia to take out the enitre Career pack ont he second day (youngest Victor in memory, won at age 12)
District 5: Vanya, won the 73rd Games by manipulating the power source on the tundra-like Arena to divert all warmth to her
District 8: Ben, oldest Victor among 7, won the 58th Games by feeding his female partner poison berries and strangling a girl to death while feverish and delirious (later was Klaus' mentor)
District 8: Klaus, won the 69th Games by hiding and sneaking around in the cave-Arena at night, waited for mutts to take out all competitors (made living in Capitol by selling his body after the Games)
District 10: Diego, won the 63rd Games by the use of his knife and knowledge of weak spots on a body- Words:
