She laughs softly at that and he steals a quick glance up at her from underneath his fringe. “What do you want-“ she cuts herself off and looks at him more closely for a moment. “What do you need, Doctor?”
“I need-” he looks up at her and then stops, pulling himself out of reach and away from River. His jaw works silently as he tries to articulate the words. “Just for a night. I want…” he tries again, this time gesturing between them as she frowns slightly.

“Something’s wrong with River,” Amy said, making a sound of triumph as she finally found the correct door to the kitchen.
“What? Did the Angels do something to her?”
“No, nothing like that - I meant,” Amy sighed as she turned to face him fully. “Something happened while you were gone. When the Angels took you to the Winter Quay, I mean. We were trying to figure out where you were and River had her hand trapped by another Angel. In the book - her book, the one she wrote to help us - there was something about us having to break something. And I,” she sighed again and turned towards the cupboards, pulling out popcorn platters and tortilla chips. “I read ahead. So it had to happen. I read that River would break her wrist, so it had to happen.”
