    Summary

The Fall wasn’t totally unexpected. Crowley had always asked too many questions, quietly challenging Her great plan, so ending up in sulphur wasn’t something he hadn’t considered.

It was the landing that came as a surprise.

He wasn’t a demon, but something less--a shade of his former self, doomed to walk the world with only grief and the memory of love as his companions.

Meanwhile, Aziraphale was desperately searching for his other half. It had been millennia since he'd Fallen, and he couldn’t find his demon anywhere.

    Summary

When Aziraphale Eastgate first moves to Tadfield, he struggles to understand the strange culture of the village. They're not friendly or kind or anything he expected from a village in the north. So when he rescues a snake from a snow storm, he's glad for a little company even if it comes in the form of an animal.

Unfortunately, in Tadfield, animals are often not what they seem.

    Summary

In good weather, one can see the lighthouse at the Rock from the shore: a dot on the horizon, a distant star flashing red and white and red again.

It’s been dark for a fortnight, of course—ever since the incident that every newspaper had breathlessly written about, that the paper-boys on the corners had shouted themselves hoarse over.

This is where Aziraphale is headed: it is his duty, after all, to find out what happened, to make sure that the beacon can be safely lit once again.

He does not expect Crowley to follow him to the windswept isle, to the lonely lighthouse at what could just as well be the edge of the world.

    Crowley follows him anyway.

A case brings Aziraphale and Crowley to work together. Which is normal. Easy. It's not as if the closeness will let hidden things to show. Won't it?

    Summary

After their unexpected encounter in sixth-century Wessex, the Black Knight -- ahem, Crowley -- has an arrangement he'd like Sir Aziraphale to consider.

Aziraphale wants something too, and pursues it with uncharacteristic persistence.

“So, given it any thought? Comin’ to some kind of arrangement?”

Aziraphale seemed to be considering something in the shadows on the other side of the tent. The candle picked up white-blond lights in his hair, glinted on the Saxon glass beaker half full of cloudy mead.

“I have,” he said softly, “been giving thought to a good many things.”

“This en’t gonna be one of those philosophical discussions you used to drag me to, is it? ‘Cos it was always dead borin’ till they brought in the flute girls. Bangin’ on all night about the Nature Of Love, an’ that.”

    “Yes,” said Aziraphale.
