Tony Stark is born to the finest line of Omegas there are, but he never gets to be one. He's a Beta - trained to be one since he was young. And he's fine with that.
He's fine with that.
Even though he's lonely, even though he doesn't have the pack he's supposed to, even though his parents die and he's taken to Afghanistan, he's FINE.
(Follows Tony Stark through childhood, MIT, kidnappings, and Afghanistan as he struggles to conceal his nature and finds a few people that he wishes he could tell)

Learning how to touch again after trauma can be...tricky. It's a necessary part of healing, though. Toni knows this and, no matter how much she's coming to love Steve, her and Bucky have a lot of healing to do.
So touch. Toni can do touch. It'll be fine - co-sleeping with the Winter Soldier will go fine. Great even. No problem.
(There's a problem)

Bucky Barnes is the most Alpha Alpha an Alpha can be. Except for the fact that small sickly Steve Rogers is his Prime, despite absolutely everybody having a problem with that.
Bucky Barnes is a Redline. He's tough, he's smart, a bit feral, and he's...he's not very dominant. He's got a soft spot for kids and the elderly. He's only got a few close connections in his pack - doesn't care to make more. He doesn't act much like a Redline at all.
He's a little bit strange, but his heart is in the right place. It's a pity that war, Hydra, and the Red Room don't care about where his heart is - all they care about is that he's strange. The kind of strange that they can use.
(Follows Bucky and, to a degree, Steve through their childhood in Brooklyn to Bucky as the Winter Soldier pre-CBT)

There are times when Bucky slips into the deep deep dark, drowns himself in self-recrimination and guilt until he's over his head in red. He needs to - his ghosts aren't going to appeased by anything else.
He used to spiral into it alone. Nowadays, Toni comes along for the ride and guides his descent. She wraps her slender fingers around the silver chain of his dog tags and chokes him.
One twist round his neck for every hateful thought. One loop loosened for every scrap of self-love.

Tony isn't a healthy man. He's fine with that, really. It makes perfect sense. Unfortunately, he has a job to do that kind of has his health as a major requirement. So he unmakes himself, remakes the Accords, protects every single child super that enters his field of view, and hopes ferociously that the Avengers never come back to the US. He doesn't spend any time at all rebuilding Bucky Barnes' life. Not a single second. Anything he does that contributes to him is simply an accident.
Bucky is a patient man. It's ok if Tony wants to ignore him for now. He won't be able to forever.
(Somewhere in the world, a sense of dread crawls up the back of Tony's spine)
