Summary
Zhou Zishu spared a thought for the man who'd cursed him. It wasn't a good tactical decision, but then, when people were about to die, they tended to make the wrong choice. He should have settled for physically attacking Zhou Zishu. The man would have ended up dead and destroyed all the same, and never going out in the day and being forced to consume human blood would have caused a lot more trouble for the man's political rival than it ever did for Zhou Zishu. It was with a sense of vague pity that he thought: he probably thought he was inflicting a terrible punishment on the man who was about to kill him. Ah, well.
An owl called nearby, and Zhou Zishu tucked the bloody sash under the dead bandit. No one would see him. Let the animals find his body.

Summary
Heading back to Mount Fengya for Qingming, Zhou Zishu and Zhang Chengling treated a quiet, brooding Wen Kexing carefully: Zhang Chengling as if he was something fragile and precious, Zhou Zishu as if he was a wounded beast that had to be soothed.
In fact, Wen Kexing was all right, and that was the problem.
