Summary
“Now why would I do that?” Hythlodaeus responds with complete amusement. Instead of leaving, he shuts the door behind him instead, and the telltale click that follows afterwards tells Hades he has locked the door behind him. “The least I can do is wait for the thrilling conclusion to this lovely show of yours, dear Hades.”
For a moment, all Hades can manage is to stare at the other man with mouth agape and brow furrowed. Finally, he manages to form enough words to express his protestations in earnest “Absolutely not! No!”
“Oh come now, you would deny a close friend this innocent request?”

Summary
it’s unbelievably hot in thavnair, a muggy intense heat she’s never had a reason to get used to. ala mhigo gets desert-hot, radiating and uncomfortable, but so long as you keep hydrated it’s bearable in the shade. thavnair heat is a brick wall in comparison. she’s listening, semi-successfully, for footsteps through the grass behind her. she hears him calling first: “fordola?” and then arenvald is upon her, offering a waterskin with a kind smile.
fordola hates him. if her vocalizing of that fact sharply declined in frequency once the two of them had worked together, it must be a coincidence. he is everything she despises rolled up into one person. firstly, the fact that he ran from garlemald; secondly, his natural-born echo; thirdly, his unwavering, unbelievable kindness.

(not actually an enemies to lovers fic i promise. fordola/arenvald very sweet stuff.)

Summary
Hades could have chosen any time in the history of Amaurot.
He could have remade the days when Hythlodaeus and he went to class together. Or the time that followed shortly after in which they learned how to love each other for the first time. Or the easy years that followed when Azem had joined them and their largest concerns were diverting the Convocation’s attention from his well-intentioned schemes.
Instead, Hades erected a constant reminder of duty. A perpetual indictment against his perceived past failures.
