Summary
Nico buys a new house, fills it with all of Levi's favorite things, and finally with Levi
“You decorated half of this house with things I like and you’re building a bookshelf for my books. You put flower boxes with my favorite flowers outside, why?” He doesn’t ask him with anger or with accusation, because he’s not feeling any of those things, but it doesn’t stop Nico from glancing down at the water between them and shrugging.
“I guess I wanted this house to feel like yours too.” It’s a quiet admission and Levi laughs.
He puts his hands on the sides of Nico’s face and tilts it up to look at him, “Do you want me to move in with you?”
There’s a chance that Levi’s gotten this wrong. That Nico’s simply an accommodating boyfriend that doesn’t mind Levi’s things inhabiting his house when he visits, and that chance sets Levi’s nerves alight. Nico’s eyes flick upwards to meet his though and he grins, crooked and insecure, “I was trying to be subtle about it.”

Levi doesn’t get more than a strangled “Hi, mom” out, before he’s struggling to breathe.
There’s a calm silence, one full of understanding and patience, “What’s wrong, baby?” Myrna’s voice is gentle on the other end and Levi tucks his knees up to his chest and cries.
There’s no needling from his mom, no pressure to talk before he can find his voice, “Nico finds out about the job today. The one in San Francisco.”

“You should let me poke around in your brain.” Koracick points a replica mandible at Nico, “I bet we’ll find alien tech in there.” He winks then.
“You’ve never seen anything like this?” It’s a little worrying, hearing from a seasoned neurosurgeon that his problem is unheard of.
Tom shrugs, “Wouldn’t know, you won’t let me see it.” He digs a freeze dried blackberry out of a silver bag then, “I’ve seen tumors, parasites, bruises, bleeding, etcetera, etcetera. Listen, son, you’re fine. That’s Schmitt kid though? Blood’s not my bag.”
Nico doesn't have a soul mark, but he does have a terrible illness that he can't seem to pinpoint

Summary
Link kicks at Levi’s shoe, “I’ve been trying to have a conversation with you for the past five minutes, and it’s turning into a monologue. I didn’t tell you to take a vow of silence, you know.” He narrows his eyes then, but there’s a curve to his lips, “Or is this you pouting because I told you something I didn’t want to hear.”
The words twist up in Levi’s stomach and make him nauseas and he swallows, shaking his head, “I just want to be better. He deserves that.” Now Levi is terrified that everything he’s going to do for the rest of his life is going to come across as a cry for attention. He can’t even get self improvement right.
“You are—” Link gestures to him, “A lot, Levi Schmitt.”
