Summary
"It’s definitely the anxiety that’s numbing her all the way to the tips of her fingers, not the ill-advised crush she’s had on professor Lister since she took an elective on queer poetry in her Sophomore year. Ann had been swept away in more ways than one."
It's Ann Walker's senior year and she is really, desperately crushing on her professor. Guided by her best friends Catherine and Harriet, she endeavors to survive the year, although she makes it harder for herself by propositioning Anne Lister to be her thesis adviser - and Anne accepts.

Summary
But then the woman exclaims “Freddy?” and things start to shift in her mind. Her high school nickname unearths memories buried very deep down indeed. Of smoking under the bleachers with John Booth and Samuel Washington, of having a new girlfriend almost every week, of getting detention with John Walker definitely every week. Of her best friend’s impressionable younger sister always wanting to hang out with them and being really, really obvious about the crush she was harboring.
That younger sister has done a lot of growing up.
“Hey there, Little Walker.”

Summary
"Anne breathed in her scent- citrus and soap. She smirked to herself as she thumbed through her book, more focused on the way the woman’s small hands twisted nervously in her hair, legs bouncing, than the words on the page. No ring, she mused, eventually giving up and closing the book. Anne noted a small rainbow flag was pinned to the backpack that she had pushed under the seat in front of her. A smile crept across Anne’s face and she leaned her head back into her seat. She didn’t usually feel so pulled to strangers, but the way this girl bit her lip as she lifted her perfectly sculpted neck to look around...Anne felt undone."
OR The one where Anne and Ann meet on an airplane.
TW: Ann struggles heavily with anxiety and depression.
