Mirabel presses one hand above her eyes in an attempt to stop the pounding in her head. The other is flattened to the rug, trying to convince her body the room isn’t actually moving.
Bruno kneels in front of her, full of gentle concern. He pulls her hand away from her forehead and replaces it with his own. “Ay! You’re burning up!”
She bats his hand away. “I’m fine, tío. Just overdid it a little.”
“You’re sick. Why didn’t you say anything?”
“It’s not important. It’s just a little cold.”With Julieta’s gift, sickness in the Madrigals is rare, but not impossible. A comparison of times when Mirabel or Bruno gets sick, both when Mirabel is four and fifteen. Sharing the hurt with one another can be hard, but support goes a long way in healing.
