The blend that Hua Cheng favors is not quite like any Xie Lian can remember having tried before. It is earthy and smoky, almost spicy in flavor, and finishes with a peculiar sort of sweetness. Xie Lian always thinks he has a firm grasp on the flavor until the next time he tastes it, and it surprises him all over again. It is bold, unique, and the more he drinks it the more he appreciates it. Even now, as he sets about pouring the water and steeping the leaves, the smell of it wafts over him in wisps of steam that fill his head with thoughts of San Lang, San Lang, San Lang.

Giving your ashes to the God of Disaster is a tremendously high-risk decision.As if on cue, the silver chain snapped for no reason whatsoever. Xie Lian startled and attempted to catch it as it fell, but a burst of bad luck ensured that it slipped through his fingers and went tumbling merrily down the slope. Catch me, come catch me, the ring winked in the sunlight.
Naturally, Xie Lian attempted to do so. Naturally, he stubbed his toe on a root, toppled over, and rolled down the hill in hot, uncontrollable pursuit of the ring.
Hua Cheng is the most qualified being to make that decision. And, as Xie Lian discovers, a Ghost King does not do take-backsies.
