    Lan Xichen squeezes his arm once and lets go. Lan Wangji tries not to miss the warmth as the man continues, “Do not worry, Wangji. We have invited Young Master Wei and I am sure that he can help us break the curse. If there is anyone in the world whom I trust to do it, it is him.”

    All of a sudden, recognition sparks at the surname. It catches him off guard, after everything that happened in the short span of time, the familiarity in the name grips him with hope. Lan Xichen stood and Lan Wangji raises his head and speaks, almost without thinking, “Wait.”

    The smile on Lan Xichen’s face falters. “What is the matter?”

    “Young Master Wei,” Lan Wangji repeats even though the words do not fit his mouth right. It feels wrong even though he does not know why. He needs to know why. “What is his name?”

    Lan Wangji contracts a curse that makes him forget everything except his cultivation and his inexplicable connection to a person he cannot even remember - Wei Ying.

    But Nie Mingjue was still wary of Wei Wuxian. He had no idea what the other was truly like other than what he’d heard via rumors...

    And as he subconsciously rubbed his throat, fingers brushing up against the fine stitches that had been used to sew his head back to his body, he was reminded of the fact that he really didn’t need nor want any new friends this time around.

    And yet despite Nie Mingjue’s wishes-

    “Ah! Chifeng-zun! There you are!” 

    Nie Mingjue paused, shoulders tensing. He could've sworn he’d lost the other-

    “I was wondering where you’d gone off to...” Wei Wuxian tapped his nose, squinting at him. Just as Nie Mingjue braced himself for an onslaught of resentful energy in turn for upsetting him, Wei Wuxian was gasping and pointing at the ground behind him.“Look! It’s a rabbit!”

    (Or Nie Mingjue is, secretly, kinda terrified of Wei Wuxian, and has a lot of repressed issues he's been ignoring since his resurrection. He's forced to face his problems when he's accidentally put under a spell. Wei Wuxian, on the other hand, just really wants to be his friend.)
