“So? How ‘bout it, Shelbs?” Andrew asked. “Will you marry me?”
Shelby shot Toni a panicked look and kicked her again.
“What?” Toni whispered.
“Please?” Shelby shot back through gritted teeth.
Toni cleared her throat and stood up. Her hands were shaking. She had no idea what in the fuck she was about to do or say. She just knew that Shelby needed her. And more than anything in the world, she knew she wanted to come through for her best friend.
Toni steeled her gaze on Andrew's forgettable face. “She can’t marry you, bud.”
He laughed in disbelief. “Oh, and why’s that?”
“Because I already asked her.” The crowd gasped. “And she said yes,” Toni smiled a cocky, fuck you, kind of smile.
OR: Toni doesn't have anywhere to go for Thanksgiving. Her best friend, Shelby, invites her down to Texas. Things get a little complicated when Toni saves Shelby from an engagement she doesn't want by claiming to already be her fiancée.
Cheesy Hallmark Holiday movie tropes, but make it Halloween.
Here's my attempt at mimicking Hallmark's descriptions of their holiday films:
Toni Shalifoe moves down to Fort Travis, Texas to comfort her sister Marty who's reeling from a divorce. While there, she runs into Shelby Goodkind, a girl who hasn't been back to her hometown in five years. Both of them have haunted pasts, but together, they could have a bright future. If only they could uncover the true meaning of... Halloween(?)
What happens after Shelby says she's sure.
The Texas State University Women's Rugby Team is often referred to at the hottest team in Texas. They could be the best squad in the state if they would just stop breaking each others hearts.

“I know sexual tension when I see it. Have you talked to her?”
Shelby shook her head no. She looked up at the ceiling and resisted the urge to cry. “I was going to kiss her at midnight.”
Fatin’s eyes widened. “You what?”
Shelby cringed. “Yeah, that was kind of the plan.”
“Just like, by surprise? Kiss her and then what?”
Shelby groaned. “I don’t know. Run away I guess.”
Fatin bursted out laughing.
“I get it. Fatin. It’s a bad plan.” Shelby sighed. “Got a better one?
“She acts like I'm a child or something.”
Shelby rolled her eyes. Was Toni seriously still on that?
Earlier that day, during English, Toni had started a ridiculous argument about God being a brainwashing tool designed to enslave the masses.
“She called me fucking petulant.”
Damn right. Shelby had to keep herself from nodding.
“You don’t think I’m being petty, do you?”
The AU where Toni befriends a wolf. Hanging out with it becomes a common occurrence. She tells the wolf things she doesn't even tell Martha. But what Toni doesn't know is that the wolf she confides in happens to be the person she often rants about.
