Summary
“How’s the family? Everybody okay?” Brewer News was usually a pretty mundane, albeit complicated affair, as there were a lot of them. There were skiing, camping and fishing stories, birthday parties and anniversaries, tales of home improvement and gardening. The craziest thing that happened so far was Patrick’s cousin Trish getting into a mountain bike accident and breaking her collar bone.
No one ever seemed to get stuck in Istanbul, had a gambling debt to settle in Monaco, or needed a fake passport out of Belarus. Which in all honestly, things David didn’t miss.
“Everything’s fine, just fine.” Patrick smiled. “Mom and Dad are thinking about getting a new car, Maybe a Prius.”
“Ooh-nice. Good for them.” David had no doubt that the car was blue. He also tried very hard not to sound suspicious, as this was obliviously not whatever Patrick was practically vibrating over.
Not even a year into their marriage, and David finds himself invaded by Brewers: Patrick's favorite cousin and his family. David tries to deal, and it's not easy when this Brewer invasion includes his worst nightmare-kids. David tries his best for Patrick's sake, and is surprised that he has much in common with a small Brewer.

Summary
I didn’t sleep much the night before Rose Apothecary’s big debut. My mind kept going in crazy, swooping circles. I was excited, scared, happy and nervous all at the same time. So I lay in bed staring up at the ceiling, making mental lists. My nearest and dearest have teased me about this habit, but it does help. First up was:
Things That Could Go Horribly Wrong Tomorrow:
1. No one will show up.
2. Hardly anyone would will show up.
3. People will come, but no one will buy anything.
4. David will freak out.A first person exploration of Mr. Brewer, being all Patricky and worrying about the store opening, his past and REALLY mooning over David. And who can blame him?

“Your mother told me what happened with that Sebastien Raine character.”
Fuck fucking fuckety fuck. I know my mother has a really hard time keeping a secret, but I honestly didn’t expect her to rat me out as a man whore to my dad. I sat there furious and cringing, and hoped to god that an asteroid was going to hurtle down from the sky and obliterate me from the face of the earth.
No such luck. My dad kept on talking.
In the aftermath of the Sebastien Raine affair, David tries to deal.

Summary
Best of all was David Rose. He was a pretentious bundle of nerves and snobbery, a condescending ballon that Stevie could not resist pricking at every opportunity. It was immensely satisfying watching this jerkhole one percenter flail around and try deal with the real goddamn world.
However, after she got to know him a little more-totally against her better judgement-she also discovered that David had a biting sense of humor similar to her own. He also had a general loathing of other people, another sterling quality. And he could snark right back at her with ease. She had finally found an opponent worth her mettle.
As much as she tried to fight it, she found herself really liking him. A lot. Stevie could not remember the last time she had felt that particular emotion. They were…friends.
In spite of this fact, though, she was still allowed give him a massive amount of shit.
Tonight there was real blood in the water.
David is babysitting. Stevie is merciless.

Summary
Patrick adjusts his watch for probably the fifteenth time since Twyla sat him in the booth. It’s 8:07. He can’t pretend to be surprised that David is late, whereas punctuality was hammered into Patrick’s head so consistently by his parents from such a young age that it’s basically part of his DNA now. It was always going to be this way—Patrick was always going to be early, and David was always going to be late. It’s who they are, and somehow that realization reassures him. That, at the very least, he knows David that way.

Summary
"He was all too aware of the baggage he carried from his past relationships. David had always been open about his damage to anyone who would listen; why bother hiding it, when the evidence was so damning? He wasn’t blind to the weight that came from the briefest of one-night stands or the boulders attached to his ankles by his break-ups, let alone the all-encompassing anchor that was strapped to him shibari-style by one Sebastien Raine."
