“I’m sorry” Draco said. He dabbed at his mouth from where he’d almost spat out his drink. “Did I just hear you say that you have a boyfriend?”

    Summary

“Oh, listen to Dirk. He’s a bathing goods psychic.”
“I am not a psychic. I simply don’t always concern myself with such petty things as employee protocol and company script. I see the solution to each customer’s needs as being detectable in the pattern and web of the whole. The connections between bathing rituals and physical-mental health are often much more subtle and complex than we, with our rough and ready understanding of cocoa butter, might naturally suppose.”

    -

Todd goes into a bath bomb store to get a present for Amanda and meets an overeager sales assistant. Self-examination, and - dare I say it - romance ensues.

Frick. I don’t even know where to begin?? I had thoughts of writing this huge, spiralling review for you, but I just feel so.../content/ and /warm/, that all that bubbling excitement and fear is just...been smoothed.

This fic makes me want to move towards being the best version of myself. The version worthy of my love and the love of my loved ones. I’m bookmarking the fuck out of this for sure, and researching bullet journals more thoroughly, but. It feels like everything I say in a review wouldn’t be enough to tell you how much you’ve changed me?? I woke up at 9 am on a Saturday today, and usually I would be upset as fuck over that, but today? I woke up Calm and kind of happy, because I was waking up for a fun reason. I’ve never been this calm for so long, and I don’t know how to thank you??

I vaguely recall thinking of your fic as magic—the way you convey emotions and states of mind, but even more so how you transferred them onto me? It really feels like magic—the kind of magic I’ll associate with sunshine and buttercups, glitter and bath bombs, happiness at your own pace (as long as it’s towards happiness). Why do I feel like you’ve changed my life? It feels like you have, that’s for sure. I’ve read so many books that can’t compare, and no book has ever made me feel this content and full of positive magic before.

Am I now on a mission to read all of your fics if I know the fandom? Yes. Will I come back to this fic periodically? You better believe it, sweet Author.

I didn’t even write about how perfectly you wrote Dirk and Todd?? And Mona, Bart, Ken, Hugo, Panto, Amanda—everyone you wrote you made /golden/, and I can’t thank you enough for this.

    Summary

Todd is staring down at the parade with a strangely contemplative expression. His eyelashes are catching the light like strands of spun gold. Suddenly, in the pit of Dirk’s stomach, something flutters quietly – like a butterfly, getting ready to spread its wings and generate an air current that will compound into a tornado several million miles away.
    “Dirk,” says Todd slowly.
    The butterfly stretches, warming up.
“I’ve been meaning to ask. Just out of curiosity, not that it’s any of my business, but, having nearly died with you a half dozen times now …”
    The butterfly’s wings arch, softly.
    “Are you gay?”
The butterfly flicks its wings open and takes flight.

    -

Dirk kisses his best friend on their balcony in front of the Pride Parade. It seemed like a good idea at the time. Things escalate wildly into identity issues, old hang-ups, anguished declarations of love, and inopportune sabotage of the situation by their tiny bastard cat.

I’m crying with how amazing this is?? Like, /fuck/, I wasn’t expecting such...perfection?? Especially because I think I’m like Dirk?? I never knew anyone could write us to make sense, and then you wrote our worst fears, only to be kissed into our wildest /dreams/, and I can’t thank you enough for that. Ugh, thank you /so/ much for this amazing, Prideful fic.

Dirk calls Todd 'darling' entirely by accident.

At least, it's an accident the first time he does it.

/I’m screeching/ this is /amazingggg/. The build-up of the pet names, the angst, the way you worked in the rest of the world, and then. I literally felt a /rush/ and a /swooping/ as a grin spread out across my face, and I overturned my (thankfully empty) cereal bowl trying to read as much as possible. Ahhhhhhh, this was soooooo good—thank you so much for writing and sharing!!

    Bookmarker's Notes

Oh my godssss this and the previous fic were /amazing/!!! I love how you kept the imperfections of everyone—the PTSD, the bad coping mechanisms, the /attitude/. But also their weird But beautiful family. And how you added the security and safety that the end of AFTG would’ve enabled the team to gain.

You write emotions so well?? I could completely understand and feel everyone’s emotions, and they made so much /sense/ for the characters. And I loved Aaron and Neil’s arguing, my gods, some of the best humour, ngl. Also /those shorts/. I’m pretty sure I laughed out loud a couple of times in this fic.
