Admittedly, at first was weird, with the fever and the craving for living flesh and the whole thing with the Life Foundation but now that they’ve settled into a semi-normal routine of investigative journalism and eating bad guys, things are going surprisingly well.
He’s learning more and more about his new friend every day – what little Venom shares about his own past, his planet, the others of his kind. But the real fun part, he learns, is introducing Venom to new things. Which is fairly easy, considering mostly everything is new to the symbiote.

“Why is Bucky’s line disconnected?” Steve asks.
“Steve, who are you talking about?” Clint asks.
Steve glares at him. “Bucky. You know. The Winter Soldier. My boyfriend. Long hair, metal arm. Come on, guys, this isn’t funny.”
“No one is laughing,” Natasha replies. “There is no one called the ‘Winter Soldier,’ and if you have a boyfriend, you certainly haven’t introduced him to us.”
“JARVIS, can you tell me if Bucky is in the building?” he asks instead of responding to Nat.
There is a long pause and then JARVIS’ clear voice comes down from the ceiling. “I have no records of anyone who goes by the name ‘Bucky’ entering the building.”
Or: Steve wakes from a nightmare only to find that Bucky no longer exists.

Summary
Steve draws Bucky the way he looked that night – a cigarette burn beside his mouth, the makeup smears, stained clothing and messy hair.
Even through the lens of memory transposed in charcoal, he looks beautiful.
Michelle finds him there in front of the canvas when she comes for their session.
Steve looks at the black on his hands and imagines it as blood.
“I miss him like he died,” Steve says.
Michelle sits on the couch, arranging herself in the graceful way she has. “He’s doing very well,” she says. “You made the right choice, bringing him here.”
“He’ll never forgive me,” Steve says.
“I think you need to work a little on forgiving yourself.”

Summary
Steve and Bucky escape Romania only for German Special Forces to catch up with them in neighboring Serbia. They manage to make another frantic escape, but this time, Bucky is shot in the back. He’s left injured and in constant pain, forcing Steve to bring him to a safehouse in the States, in the hopes that Doctor Cho will be able to help Bucky. But of course, not long after their arrival, they are discovered and Bucky is arrested for the crimes he was forced to commit while under HYDRA’s control.
Even with the serum and aid from Doctor Cho, Bucky does not heal fully and is left with limited mobility and in chronic pain. Steve trades his freedom and formally resigns as Captain America to be allowed into Bucky’s prison cell to care for him while Bucky is on trial for murder and treason. He assures Bucky that there is no possible way the jury could find Bucky guilty. Bucky was a prisoner of war and the jury will understand that. At least, that’s what Steve tells himself.

Cougar takes the gun and immediately unloads it. Jensen doesn’t fight him. “You just did,” he murmurs, and feels a thrill as Jensen smiles. It’s a small thing, but beautiful nonetheless.
“I did, didn’t I?”
Like a fucking badass, Cougar thinks.
He just grins in response.

Summary
Jensen tries to swallow, but his mouth’s gone dry as brittle old bones. Should he make contact? Would Cougar even recognize him, nine years older, with the full beard he’s grown on his trip and tired eyes?
In the end, Cougar answers the question for him. Jake watches, transfixed, as he takes a long sip of his beer and swallows, adam’s apple bobbing in some inexplicably pornographic way. He spends a moment staring contemplatively at the table before appearing to reach a decision.
And he gets up, looks straight at Jake, and walks toward him.
