    Bookmarker's Notes

This is a truly excellent fic that will keep you up all night wanting more! The action! The adventure! The romance! All of it is amazing. But where this fic truly shines is the characterization and plot.

The characterization is perfect, and it's very easy to imagine this actually happening in place of canon. Anduin in particular is exceptionally well done, and the author does him the justice he deserves by not flattening him down to a naive, innocent, helpless child. Additionally, the relationships all the characters have with each other feels very organic and progress in slow, slight ways that end up being very satisfying. For instance, the main romance is a nice, good slow burn that works up from a slightly dicey friendship, and it happens very naturally. It's also nice to see both Anduin and Wrathion act their age and be shown as inexperienced, awkward, and confused when it comes to their feelings of both love and friendship.

The plot is also something of a slow burn, but it starts off with a bang to get you interested and then holds you captivated while it steadily builds up, getting more intense and action packed as it goes. Because of the way it builds on itself, it honestly is hard to put down; every new step leaves you hungry for more, until it finally picks up so much speed it has you at the edge of your seat!

    Bookmarker's Notes

If you're looking for a truly excellent fic that will make you cry like a baby, then look no further than this here fic. This is an incredibly wonderful follow up to Klavier's arc, and pulls together a lot of threads that were left hanging at the end of the Apollo Justice game.

It handles its characters, plot, and themes absolutely beautifully, and it doesn't shy away from the dark places bitterness, betrayal, and guilt can take people. And the depression, anxiety, self-loathing, and complete isolation that the main character feels is startlingly real, but so is the sense of community you can feel building up around him from the other characters' POVs.

All in all, this fic is both painful and cathartic, and definitely worth the read.

    Summary

There are a few things that Carlos may have neglected to tell Cecil.

    Like his last name.

Or how he hasn’t actually dated anyone since his junior year of high school.

Or that he’s a wizard of the White Council and the regional commander of Wardens in the western United States and not, in fact, a scientist.

    You know. Minor details.

    Bookmarker's Notes

An absolutely beautiful crossover! The author has all of the characters down pat, and does a fantastic job integrating Carlos Ramirez (among other Dresden Files characters and concepts) into the Welcome to Night Vale canon. Honestly, the two worlds are merged together so seamlessly that most of the fic could have actually happened along side of WtNV's canon without changing any part of it at all. Also, all of the OCs are very dynamic, with distinct personalities and speaking patterns, and frankly they're very easy to love and get attached to, even the villains.

And the plot! Oh my god, the plot! I have no idea why the author subjected themself to the pains of writing so much time travel, but boy did it seriously pay off. The execution was both brilliant and pretty easy to follow, and the author never fell into the trap of accidentally messing up the continuity by changing things they had forgotten they wrote.

All in all, this is definitely worth the read, and probably fairly easy to understand and enjoy even if you don't know one (or both!) of the fandoms. If you like long, twisting plots or just enjoy fics with plenty of time travel, magical action, and/or science, then you should definitely give this one a try.

    Bookmarker's Notes

I can think of no better tribute to the source material than this fic right here. Just like Tsubasa and xxxHolic, this is a story with a long, beautifully written, heart wrenching plot that has many twists and turns, all for a bittersweet ending. The tone of this fic and the overall attention to detail that the author put into it really do make it seem like a sister series to the original works. Likewise, all of the characterizations are spot on, except one who even still you can see how they could be twisted to into what they become. And even more impressively, the author did a truly fantastic job of creating backstories analogous to those found in the source material, despite the settings being so vastly different.

On a special point worth mentioning, it can be hard to find an antagonist who has motivations that don't feel flat. Despite appearing rather late in the fic, the main antagonist here does not fall victim to that in the slightest. They are so brilliantly written, with so much depth, and despite being completely despicable you can't help but see the logic in most of their actions. They honestly do have quite the silver tongue, and the way they use their words to manipulate the main characters really drives home what an amazing wordsmith the author is themself.

    Bookmarker's Notes

More perfect and wonderful than even dear, sweet Carlos (who, might I add, is perhaps the cutest thing to ever exist here), this fic manages to capture the essence of and imitate Welcome to Night Vale in almost every way. I feel as though I should perhaps be concerned by this, but instead find myself strangely compelled to recommend it to others. But listen, it's probably nothing. So, if you like Welcome to Night Vale and can withstand the agony of having your heart unrepentantly heated thousands of degrees until it eventually liquefies, please read this. You will certainly regret it, for it will only leave you longing desperately for more, but it will definitely be worth it.
