Summary
“There are few things more important in war than Honor,” Iroh said, guiding Zuko away from supply lines, away from civilians. “Do nothing to the enemy you cannot take, yourself.”
“Isn’t it justified?” Zuko asked, repeating words he’d heard many times from his instructors in the past. “What Honor do they have?”
Iroh smiled sadly. “It is never justified. Honor comes not from other people, Zuko, but from yourself. A man without honor…” He pats the young man’s shoulder. “Well. A man without honor, without moral, is nothing.”
What honor is there in war? Zuko had wanted to ask. What purpose do our blood-stained hands have, now, when we are nothing? He crushed the whispers ruthlessly.
The War is right.
Father is right.
(“My Loyalty belongs to my Fire Lord,” Ancient voices chanted, “My Loyalty, My Fire, My Life.)
It had to be.
(Or: How Prince Zuko slowly realized the world was more important than Ozai's approval, and how that revelation changed the war. Before Aang AU)

Summary
How Zuko and Sokka collided through ill advised means—or approximately seven (7) acts—is beyond them. In just a year, they will trudge through the unorthodox conquests of youth (see #2: The Late Acquisition of 2 gallons of Arizona Peach Iced Tea) or capitalist schemes (#5: Bought A $4,550 Jacuzzi). But how they manage to Allow Aang to Become Vegan (#1), Host The Mr. Teen Universe Contest (#7) and, um, Set The Classroom on Fire—Again (#6) to eventually fall for each other, is still a mystery to them.

Summary
Hakoda kills a Southern Raider. This backfires spectacularly. Zuko is just trying to keep four kids from dying while not being a traitor to his nation. Toph is concerned. Sokka finds himself rethinking everything he had previously considered the norm.
Or
Kuei orders all of the Fire Nation out of Ba Sing Se after Azula fails her coup. This has wider ramifications than he thought.

Summary
In Ba Sing Se, Sokka is left alone to help the King. When he finds Zuko by accident one day, green robes and a teapot in his hand, he doesn't quite believe what he's seeing.
And when they're sitting under the moonlight, hands intertwined and breathing softly weeks later, he doesn't quite believe it either.
(Something about vulnerability, trusting your instincts and growing up together)

Summary
When Azula met her brother in Ba Sing Se & told him he could come home, he believed her, even though she had made this exact offer before. This time there was no loose-lipped Captain to give the game away, & he was brought back to the Fire Nation not as a hero, but in chains.
When he is dragged from his cell months later, he expects to be facing his execution, not his coronation.
