Softly he began to hum. It was an old tune he remembered from his childhood, but he couldn’t remember who taught it to him. Who ever they were, they were long gone now. And soon he would be gone as well. It was his final requiem to a world he had scorned.

The notes of his song floated away to the snow and the stars and Ranboo felt free.

Summary
Sam wanted to meet up with Ranboo to talk about the prison incident.
After Ranboo seeing the books that he signed, he realizes that he is not quite yet free from Dream's grasp.
Drastic choices lead to leaving many questions to never be answered.

Summary
When Ranboo comes to visit Dream for the first time when he was "awake," Dream decides that he can use this to his advantage. Though Ranboo seems about as confused as Dream does throughout the whole situation, Dream holds firm that he can get out of this prison with Ranboo's help, and Ranboo keeps trying to get the closure that he so desperately needs.
One particular visit, though, things go wrong in a worse way than Dream ever could have imagined, and he realizes that he may not like everything that he's been doing as much as he used to think he did.

Ranboo and Dream heal together (but only after things go horribly wrong).
