Journey's End ended differently. The Metacrisis doesn't exist, the Doctor and Rose Tyler are reunited, and set off to travel the stars with Donna Noble on the TARDIS.
The Doctor always knew he'd have to live through losing his companions. He'd outlive them, after all. But Rose... Rose might be different.
A collection of rewrites in which Rose slowly but surely outlives the Doctor. Eventually.
Steve’s voice cut through the thunderstorm of thoughts flooding his head.
“You’ve been sitting there for a while. You okay? We should be heading back now.”
Sitting? Oh right, he was on his knees. Huh. He didn’t remember falling to his knees. Thor tried to respond but his tongue felt like a lead weight. He stayed silent. His limbs were paralyzed with the sheer wrongness of it all.
“We lost,” He mumbled, barely managing the words out.
Steve inhaled sharply.
“Yeah. We did.”
fixing endgame one step at a time!!
"Does it need saying?"
The words are painful as he pushes them out of his mouth. Instantly, Rose's face falls with shock and hurt. He doesn't want to do this. He doesn't want to push his emotions deep down and pretend he doesn't care. He doesn't want to lose Rose again. But he firmly believes that this is what's right. Rose will be happy if she stays here. He knows that. The belief is stubbornly stuck in his mind. A new emotion joins the shock and hurt that was mingling on Rose's face.
Then she punches him.
"YES IT DOES!"
The Doctor is absolutely head over heels in love with Rose Tyler. As a mature, 903 year old alien, he should be able to keep himself together, and stay calm.
