Summary
The air in Strangetown shimmered more than the average desert, even when the sun wasn't out. Especially when the sun wasn’t out. Mirages are supposed to occur in the right light when the air is cool and the ground is hot, Ophelia knew, because a sim learns a lot about optical illusions when they spend enough time in Strangetown. Or maybe that’s just her. At any rate, it was useful when the sky was otherwise cloudy and moonless, but it baked everything in an unnerving blue light, which made her feel so uneasy she could puke.

So, the dress. It looked great with her skin but awful with her hair. Technically, it was meant to be a bridesmaid’s dress, but it was, like, a rich bridesmaid’s dress. The kind whose bride was getting a custom designer gown that’d take two years and a team of seamstresses to finish - the kind of dress that no one could upstage if they tried. She had the money for that now, if she wanted - which part of her did. Honestly, though, who had the time? At any rate, it was red. Modern, respectable, and a deep, vibrant red.
Dina takes her two bridesmaids out shopping for dresses.

Three thematically connected stories for the TF2 Rare Pair Mini-Week 2023. Will update tags as they become applicable.
Day 1: (Vacation/Relaxation) Spy, on a government-mandated day off, masterfully disguised, follows Demoman to his other job. They chat about work.
Day 2: (Savory) Pyro and Sniper do puzzles and shoot a gun together. I'd say it gets weird, but to be honest it starts weird.
Day 3: (Music) Soldier and Medic fix up the dove enclosure and listen to a record. They both kind of hate music. -

Alternate titles: "Togetherly Alone (5 Movements)," "Let's Pretend That's how Respirators Work," "Let's Pretend (That's how Respirators Work)," and "Brought to you by the Weekend I Spent Researching Vintage Candy Instead of Studying for Finals"
The flashfire can be read as romantic or platonic. I mean, they share (fake) cigarettes together, which is basically second base in metaphor-heavy gay period pieces, but other than that there's nothing obvious one way or the other. Idk, you can read for yourself.

Summary
The necklace breaks him out of the memory: Why are you here?, it asks. He is startled - he hadn’t expected the artefacts here to speak to him directly. “I’m here for you,” he replies, “to look at you and remember you and love you.” You don’t love me, the necklace replies, and Harry protests. You’re a communist and you think I’m fundamentally a distasteful relic from an exploitative colonial regime. She loved me, and you’re here because you still love her.
Off-duty, Kim takes Harry for an afternoon at the museum. Harry searches for part of himself.

PERCEPTION (SIGHT) [Challenging: Success] - That must be it, the bird, perched on the loose gutter of the tenement across the street and one down. It’s no bigger than your hand, with a black speckled body and a pointed yellow beak. Like a child’s drawing of a bird. The platonic ideal of birddom.
HAND-EYE COORDINATION [Medium: Success] - It isn’t the best angle, but from this distance you could still hit it through the eye.
LOGIC [Easy: Success] - Why the fuck would you do that?
Harrier Du Bois takes up birdwatching.

Summary
As soon as Aubrey Thyme, psychotherapist, had opened her office door and seen her new client, Anthony J. Crowley, sitting in her waiting area, she was observing and assessing him. At first glance, she paid attention to the following:
--His clothing was expensive and stylish;
--He wore very strange but noticeable cologne;
--His relationship to the seat he occupied could only, very loosely, be described as “sitting;”
--He looked angry;
--He was wearing sunglasses.What Aubrey Thyme, a professional, thought, upon first seeing her new client was: you’re going to be a fun one, aren’t you?

Summary
Scout shook his head, and laughed around a small whisper, “How would you know how a child acts, Spy?”
If there was a melancholic look in his eye, Spy did not seem to remark on it. Rather, the man did not even need to prepare a response. Spared no expense of thought, as if the reply were immediate, automatic in the shifting of his head’s gears. When he spoke, a wistful impassivity entered Spy’s features.
It was eerily similar to Scout’s own.
Spy said along a tired sigh, “I knew one.”
In the weeks leading up to Scout's death, he had been haunted by a ghost. It came in the shape of scattered memories, lilting dreams, misplaced figures—
And the Spy. Always, the Spy.
