Kit glanced over his shoulder. Blood wept from a cut on Ty’s cheek, sweat plastered Dru’s hair to her face, and Livvy was as pale as a ghost. Jaime murmured a silent prayer.
At least if he died here, Kit thought, then he wouldn’t die alone.
The thought was less of a comfort than he expected it to be. It was sort of the opposite of comforting, as a matter of fact.
[Or, Kit’s adjustment to life as a Shadowhunter is going about as well as can be expected. Then his father’s past catches up with him, his magic starts acting up, and the world threatens to come to an end. Again.]
