    Summary

So it was fine. Even if Crowley couldn’t love him, he clearly liked him well enough, and that was almost the same thing.

It no doubt would have continued to be fine, or at least fine-adjacent, were it not for a narrowly averted apocalypse and several bottles of a really quite nice Riesling Aziraphale had found in the back room of his newly restored bookshop.

    Summary

“Angels don’t… we don’t touch, Crowley. Ever. I mean, you went to Heaven this morning, you saw what it’s like these days.”

These days, Crowley thought. Right. It hadn’t always been like that. His memory wasn’t clear, and certainly lacking something for being terminally cut off from God, but he didn’t remember it being so very cold.

“What are you saying?” he asked.

    “It’s not that I didn’t like it, I swear, it’s just… so much.”

    Summary

Aziraphale keeps his eyes on the road as he always does. He watches Crowley’s slender fingers on the steering wheel as he always does. And as always, he wonders what they would feel, his hand on his thigh, an absent thumb or pinkie tapping a rhythm to the music against the fabric of his pants leg.
    ------
In limbo, much like the endless August ahead, they don't know where they stand. Aziraphale doesn't communicate very well because he's a dumb angel but I love him anyways. Just fluff!

    Summary

Because they can’t see each other more than once every few decades, Aziraphale suggests that he and Crowley write to each other to pass the time apart. As quills for their letters, they exchange wing feathers: a gesture of great intimacy that Crowley is convinced only he perceives the depth of. But time will tell that it’s not just him who sees it that way.

    Summary

Crowley has been writing songs since humans invented music. He wrote the first love song. And he wrote it for Aziraphale.

Unfortunately, it takes Aziraphale six-thousand years to notice.
