There were maps inside her, to long ago places she knew, timelines now abandoned, lost, completed, stolen. There were languages and then there were languages, and Amelia did not know enough to explain where she had gone. She was in the after of the before, but not the after of the after. She was in the middle, and she would wait. She would wait until the words in languages forgotten, lost, changed, destroyed, solidified into meanings that she could accept wholeheartedly. She was a master of waiting, that’s how the ripples in threads worked.

Ina immediately recognizes the footsteps as they hit the cobblestone, and a slow smile drags on her lips. The flaps on the top of her head perk up. Unmoving from her position, kneeling before the altar of the Old Gods, surrounded by the sweet smell of incense and the quiet voices in her head, she waits.
When the voice speaks up, a beacon of light in the shrouded night of her mind, her heart flutters, as it has always done when hearing it.
She wonders if Amelia Watson will ever cease to have this effect on her, someday. She hopes not.

Summary
Just a few minutes, and everything changed between them. Sayori doesn't understand why he did it. She has spent the past few hours torn between making excuses for him and hiding in her bed forever, but it doesn't seem to matter. Whatever the explanation she thinks up or the apologies he texts her, the mere idea of him sends her whole body into a panic.
Two things are clear; she isn't ready to see him, and she has to get away before he comes over.
If nothing else, she can at least feel comforted that Monika will be by her side when she leaves.
