His parents had done the same, as had his grandparents before them. Why stumble around with words, when one gift can say everything?
Alberto, on the other hand, wasn't raised in a very traditional way.

Right as their hands were about to slip away from each other, Alberto suddenly surged forward and pressed his lips against Luca's cheek. Luca's eyes widened in surprise, but before he could even react, the train sped farther away until he could no longer reach for Alberto.
Or, Alberto gives Luca a kiss on the cheek before they separate instead of just a hug.
