Now that Kagome is free, she is finding every little thing seems to send her into panic mode. She decides she wants to be strong enough to support herself, and goes on a self love and growth journey, with her new bestie, and maybe lover, by her side.

“Old man, I don’t know if anyone’s ever told you this, but we delicate womenfolk deal with quite a bit of blood in our lives,” Lauren said, affecting a dramatic southern drawl. She earned a hard look in response, which she shot back at him. “You guys are part of my life now, Adam. I care about you. Deal with it.”After being kidnapped, used as a guinea pig, and finally recovering, Lauren is ready to just get back to her life. The supernatural and Unit Bravo now included. If "normal" means also having to ignore her growing feelings for Adam, then so be it.

Pleasure? Got lost on the way to an acapella meeting? Clock’s ticking and I’ve got a hot date with the dead girl in the basement.”

Lauren didn't want to be promoted. She also doesn't want her mother butting in on her first case or four agents hovering over her while she works. Luckily, she's familiar with not getting what she wants and working around it.
That's maybe not so lucky for Adam's patience.
