“How old was I when it happened?” Hannibal sniffs, staring straight at the camera with a cool irritation. “It’s rather rude to ask someone their age, but. I understand our agreement. No harm will come to your cameramen. This time.” He pauses for a long moment.
“I was twenty.” He smooths a hand down his hair, which is streaked through with silver. “Life was tough for a twenty year old back then.”
After quitting the FBI, Will Graham now works as a familiar for Hannibal Lecter, a 14th century Lithuanian vampire. Having relocated to America sometime in the past few centuries, Hannibal passes a comfortable existence in Baltimore amid a thriving community of local vampires. For Will, part of the draw of this new job was a promise to be turned into a vampire himself, but it’s almost been a year, and Hannibal still hasn’t made good on his end of the bargain. As the anniversary of their strange relationship approaches, can Will discover the true reasons behind Hannibal’s reluctance or will trying break them apart for good?

"You would put yourself in a cage of my making?”
All Hannibal’s barriers were down, his voice earnest, his eyes without guile. “And if I set you free to do what you wish?”
“Without you?” Hannibal asked softly, sounding pained at the idea. Will could feel the anxiety rolling off Hannibal like waves. It was disconcerting to know just how much the doctor abhorred the idea of being without him.
“With me. Without me,” Will responded. To give Hannibal the choice. Though, he was coming to accept that neither of them truly had a choice to be apart.
When Hannibal accompanies Will to a crime scene in Louisiana, they discover that this killer has links to his mother’s family, and Hannibal finds he and Will have more in common than he realised. A slightly more magical take on canon set immediately after Buffet Froid, offering an answer to the eternal question of why Hannibal can get away with making cannibalism puns to the FBI.
- Part 1 of Howl
“Brian’s about to start us off!” Mason said happily. “So, Brian, what will it be? Would you rather electrocute yourself, or electrocute Antony?”
Will was prepared to play a bored rich man's game in order to save Abigail's life. He was not prepared for the innocent children's game to turn into a sadistic test to determine who will survive the night — and he certainly wasn't prepared for Hannibal Lecter.
As soon as Hannibal is through the door, Will is pressing his back against it. He leans in, intending to kiss or bite him.
"You stink of her," Will spits.
His fist wraps in Hannibal's obnoxious tie. He drags him by it to the bathroom.
"You have ten seconds," Will tells him. "Before I cut that suit off of you."
