    Makoto has noticed many things about Ren since she arrived. Ren sometimes spends her afternoons in the library; Makoto notices because she is there every day and the whispers that follow the younger girl are distracting. Makoto usually ignores such irrelevant things, but this time she can't even though she tries, so she lets herself indulge her curiosity instead, just a little bit.

    Ren has a criminal record and apparently assaulted someone, despite her slight build. Ren has long dark hair to her shoulders and big grey eyes framed by thick lashes and even thicker glasses. She's tall for a girl, but hides it behind a habitual slouch. Makoto thinks about Ren’s hands, her long and thin fingers curled around a pen; she thinks about the difference in their height, about how Makoto only comes up to Ren's chin; she thinks about Ren, far too much.
