Summary
David and Patrick turn to couples therapy to navigate a challenging year in their marriage.
[This point of view of this story is that therapy can be helpful. There is no mention of infidelity, vastly different priorities regarding children or lifestyle, or serious consideration of divorce. See the tags for anything else that might be a concern.]

Summary
The rest of the house was a manageable project for the two of them once Patrick had reassured David that the distinct aura of the seventies could be easily remedied with a lick of paint and a few replaced carpets. At the time, Patrick had assumed that the lick of paint would be applied mostly by him, having seen first hand David’s disinclination around what he deemed messy or dirty projects. What he didn’t account for was David’s self-professed superior knowledge of the correct aesthetic for their home. After two years and change, he reasons, he should probably have known better.

Summary
“Hypothetically, David. Not about us, not about me. Just as a concept. Conceptually, what do you think about marriage?”
David swallows. “Why?”
“Because it’s what you do.” Patrick goes back to his laundry, goes back to folding his fucking underwear like he didn’t just corner David halfway into a panic attack. “When you’re in a relationship, at some point, you gotta have The Talk. It’s not a plan; it’s just to see if you’re on the same page.”
David sniffs, hoping it comes across as unimpressed. “Sounds fake.”David’s never really thought much about marriage. He’s never had a reason to, before.
Patrick gives him a reason.

Summary
“Not now, Alexis,” he snaps after he punches Accept and her wounded expression makes him regret his tone, but only a little.
“What, you weren’t even going to tell me you were getting me a little dog-niece or nephew?”
“Yeah, funny thing, I don’t think we did this for you,” he says as he lifts up one of the throw pillows on the couch to look under it.
“We, David? Oh so Patrick knows? So I can text him congratulations right now?”
He glares at the screen. “Skydive without a parachute, please.”
Or, a follow-up to 'There It Is, Beating Away' involving a puppy, a kid, and a surprise that very nearly goes wrong until it goes right.

Summary
So no, he didn’t go looking for the box. In fact, he didn’t know there was anything to look for, because apparently his boyfriend — is that still the right word? It must be, right? It’s not like Patrick’s asked anything, yet — is good at keeping a secret.
