Summary
Dainsleif comes every year to put flowers by the Windrise tree. Once, Venti sees him.
--
“How do you do it?” Dainsleif asked abruptly.
“Do what?”
“Live. Continue living when the world continues to turn, though there are people who have long since left it.”
Venti considered the question for a long moment. “I can answer that question,” he said slowly. “But tell me who the lilies belonged to, first. And then I can tell you the right story.”Bookmarked by Anonemoni

Summary
"I don't get it," says Kaeya, quietly.
"What don't you understand?" asks Father, infuriatingly gentle. "Ask, and I'll do my best to answer."
A man who once called himself Kaeya's father once said to him: a land that has been abandoned by the gods cannot dream of anything but its own impending oblivion. It's a solemn duty that binds him both to this land and that which he once called home — and neither will thank him for his sacrifice.
"Barbatos... left," says Kaeya. His voice cracks at the edge of the word, a hard lump coalescing in his throat. "He's gone, but everyone here is still so... so..."
Happy. Carefree. Unburdened.
