Stiles no se cree todo eso de la mágica, trascendental historia de las almas gemelas, se ríe de todas esas películas donde las parejas tocan la marca del otro por primera vez, ojos colmados de lágrimas de emoción cuando sienten la unión fluye a través de sus cuerpos (¿A quién se le ocurren este tipo de cosas?), sacude la cabeza ante toda esa gente soñadora dispuesta a pagar dinero para buscar su otra mitad.
Stiles simplemente es ambivalente respecto a todo esto. ¿Encuentra a su otra mitad? Perfecto. ¿No? Está bien; es feliz con lo que tiene.

Max is 17 when he sneaks in through the window of his girlfriend’s house on a cold and late November night, climbing the willow tree, careful not to drop the little plastic bag and its content on the grass far below him. He feels nauseous as a tree branch gets caught in his jeans.
He doesn’t kiss her once he’s made it inside, Demi doesn’t protest like she usually does. She heads towards her bathroom in a hurry with the bag in her hands, he can hear the sound of something wrapped in plastic being torn apart, her peeing, then the tap running as she washes her hands. She opens the door once she’s done. He sits on the edge of a bathtub, tapping his foot nervously, biting at his tiny fingernails, he tears at his cuticles and it bleeds. She called him earlier that night, panicked. He knew something was wrong even before he answered, she never called, always texted.
“I think I’m pregnant.”
