You remember the big stuff, and the rest is just hellish sensory memory that you think you may have been cursed with in life, but you don't fully recall. You never fully recall, and maybe that's why you're so irritated by this foolish idealistic trope.
The funny thing about sensory memory, though? It leads actions. Stream of consciousness, you know it to be called that anyways, is a huge driving factor in your life. Your mind forgets, but your body most definitely remembers. By God, does your body remember every little damn thing that has happened in the past three hundred years.
