Mianmian almost thought she’d gotten away with it with her dignity completely intact, until she found herself on the floor of her small room in tears because she didn’t have any outer robes that weren’t yellow.

    Summary

There were pounding footsteps on the path behind him, but Marius paid them no mind. He only had eyes, had thoughts, had focus for the person in front of him, that lone, solitary figure outlined by a night sky that hadn’t seen a storm like this in months… years, even. But that didn’t matter. What mattered—the only thing that mattered—was that the thoughts he could sense boiling under the surface of Courfeyrac’s public mind were taking an ever-darker turn along with them. And if Marius couldn’t reach him soon, it wasn’t going to be the storm that sent him over the cliff.

    Summary

“So,” Wei Wuxian said, feeling oddly unnerved and unsure why, “you learned how to read people because you want to act like…a merchant?”

Nie Huaisang lightly tapped his head with his fan, rolling his eyes at him. “Stop being such a landed gentry young master, Wei-xiong. There’s nothing wrong with trade! How much of your sect’s money comes from merchants interested in keeping their trade routes free of resentful energy?”

Wei Wuxian wrinkled his nose a little. “That’s cheapening it a bit, don’t you think? As cultivators, it’s our duty to stand up as heroes, to defend the innocent and defeat evil, to purify –”

“Right, right. Remind me again how the Jiang sect pays for all that pretty purple?”

    Summary

Wei Wuxian’s hand jolts, spilling a drop of wine onto the tabletop. “Love?” he croaks, then clears his throat and tries again. “Lan Zh— uh, Hanguang-jun, in love?”

“Have you not heard the story?” the other young woman asks, looking pitying. “You must, it is a truly heartrending tale of star-crossed romance and mutual pining — go to any storyhouse in town, everyone has been requesting a reading of this book.”

“There’s a book?” Wei Wuxian says blankly.

In which the junior disciples (namely, Lan Jingyi, Ouyang Zizhen, and a reluctant Lan Sizhui) turn to RPF in an attempt to rehabilitate Wei Wuxian's reputation so that he and Hanguang-jun can get together and get married and live happily ever after. It's... surprisingly effective.

Endearing juniors, spot-on characterizations, and hilarious turns of phrase. Headcanon accepted.

    Summary

The year 2014 by three weeks preceded Barack Obama, with a sort of presidential presumption not devoid of stateliness, announcing that he had no more campaigns to run. It was the candid time where Pope Francis snuck out of the Vatican at night to visit the homeless, dressed as a peer of Rome. The United States army was still wearing the Universal Camouflage Pattern. Osama bin Laden had been in the North Arabian Sea for three years already.

A modern retelling of the events of 1817, 1.3.1-9.

Seriously amazing homage to Hugo's writing style in 1.3.X, and an amazing modern version of "In the Year 1817". Stunning work. Highly recommended for Les Mis fans.
