“You,” Weiss let out a resigned sigh as she pinched the bridge of her nose, “are a reckless idiot, moonlight.”
A low rumbling whine echoed through the cave they had found themselves in, coming from the giant wolf creature sitting with her head tucked down and ears drooping like a scorned pup. With an array of arrows jutting out from her back like she was doing her best impression of a porcupine.
Silver arrows. Weiss could still pick up on the faint sizzling with her sensitive hearing, could smell the damp blood seeping from her partner’s wounds. A faint pressure at her fangs made for an uncomfortable experience, but she had long since learned how to retain the hunger that came with her vampiric curse.
Besides, werewolf blood was foul.
"You know I'm going to have to take those out."

Summary
The low rumbling of the engines brings a small comfort to Ruby as she snuggles closer to her partner, shoulders knocking and knees brushing as she angles her body, loops her arm through Weiss’s and fiddles with long, delicate fingers, hesitating. Weiss huffs quietly and twists her hand palm up as she intertwines their fingers together, slotting them like a puzzle piece, finally whole.

“Can’t sleep?” It’s posed as a question, but Weiss knows it isn’t, knows that Ruby knows her better than that and it shows when Ruby doesn’t wait for an answer, her voice soft and tired. Ruby’s cheek comes to rest gently against the top of her head and Weiss swears she can feel the pain inside of her, can hear the nightmares that plague her as she speaks, her words more weighted than they should be. “I can’t either.”

Alternatively, Weiss wakes up and Ruby's gone, so she goes outside to breathe. From there, feelings happen.
