Zhongli was sitting not far from him, on a throne of pulsating Geo, his head cocked to the side and his amber eyes blazing. The gaze cast upon Childe was.... unnerving. Long hair free from it's usual tie, it fell over his naked shoulders, accentuating the glowing sigils of molten gold stretching over his blackened arms and firm pectorals.
He looked bigger like this. Unperturbed and uncaring for the panic in Childe's eyes.
He looked ethereal.
He looked like a god.This wasn't Zhongli. He was looking at Morax. And Morax was looking back at him like he was prey ready to be devoured.

Childe has a mission to retrieve Morax's gnosis for the Tsaritsa. However, nothing seems to be going his way. Instead, he is plagued by a mysterious sickness, strange dreams, and a creeping sense of dread. At least he can trust his new companion Zhongli in this confusing time...A tall, shadowy figure leaned over Childe. He could not see their face, but he could feel their presence. The being was overwhelmingly powerful. It was something like being near the Tsaritsa, but her energy was totally different. This was warm and solid. Dominant.
You are coming along well, Childe, the being spoke directly into his mind. Though it had no voice, it seemed familiar somehow. The figure’s hair brushed his face. It smelled of expensive perfumes and something very earthy, like a cave or the ground after a rainstorm. You deserve to be rewarded.

Summary
Centuries after the death of Childe, Zhongli has remained hidden in the mortal world, awaiting the day that his love would be born again and they could be together once more. However, the way they meet again is not particularly ideal.
Childe is now Ajax and does not remember Zhongli.
Also he thinks Zhongli is a non-sapient pet.
