The Life Cycle of the Frog and the Fish

In which a modern, 3-year-old Wei Wuxian is adopted by a mysterious Grandmother who teaches a weird, kind of twilight version of cultivation that her students (except for wwx) can simply interpret as meditation with a metaphor, if they'd rather. The first fifth of the story covers his childhood, wherein he lives with his Grandmother until she has to leave and then he stays with the Jiangs after that. During these years, he slowly develops a seizure-related illness that seems linked to strange, and vivid memories, and the sensation of deja vu.
Then we time skip to young adulthood, wherein jaing cheng and wei wuxian go out hiking with nie huaisang. Wwx trips over a cave and goes inside, of course, and discovers... a beautiful man in white, with a white ribbon and white hair, inside of a stasis bubble or force field. Also, there's a skeleton nearby, an evil-yet-friendly flute, a welcoming sword and a message on the wall with his own name on it.
They drag the poor unconscious man to a nearby monastery (where everyone seems to be named Lan... what kind of cult is this?) and try to go home, but wwx has trouble letting go, and then he realizes that those Lans never had any intention of calling a doctor for the previously cave-dwelling stranger, so he storms back up the mountain to protect his unconscious charge and... things get weirder from there.
*[I never did figure out what this has to do with frogs and fish]*

“What?”
“No, it’s just…it’s weird.”
“Well—it can’t be that weird,” Jiang Cheng asserted, despite the indisputable fact that he was currently standing in a haunted cave with a skeleton and a maybe-cultivator or maybe-hobo cosplaying as Sleeping Beauty, while his brother read some kind of goodbye note carved into the wall in antiquated Chinese.

❤️The Third Young Master of the Qishan Wen

Wangxianficrecs post here. (Archived.)Omg, I loved EVERYBODY IN THIS STORY. (Except Wen Ruohan, Wen Chao and Jin Guangshan.) But DAMN. I even loved Xue Yang and Wen Zhuliu. Everyone had dimension and magnetism and reasons for being who they were, and I ate it up with a spoon. POV jumps around, so you get a taste of many different perspectives. And author loves to explore the rational and personality of the more morally dark characters.
Starts out kid fic, with little Wei Ying getting taken in by his new siblings Wen Qing and Wen Ning, and of course, he renders their life far more uproarious than it was before. But canon proceeds, and Ruohan takes the famous young doctor and her brothers to Nightless City to live and study and care for him as he is slowly corrupted. Poor Wen Qing is manipulated and threatened and tries to handle everything on her own like a big sibling should, while Wwx falls for lwj at Cloud Recesses.
Just like canon, story takes a darker turn as Wen Ruohan gives up all pretense at not being a power-hungry maniac and starts crushing clans with impunity. It's well after midnight, so I won't go into details, but stressful situations abound, there are hostage situations, whump, scheming (soooo much scheming), strange alliances/friendships, blossoming romance, and a filthy, ugly war that somehow continues to be rotten in its aftermath even after it is 'won'.
Primary characters are wei wuxian, wen qing and meng yao, although everyone plays a big role.

(Archived.)Interesting story in which Wei Wuxian falls pregnant primarily because Lan Wangji and he are using dual cultivation to try to create and nurture a golden core within him, so there's a tremendous, almost one-way flow of spiritual energy from lwj to wwx, creating unique conditions. Focus is primarily on discovering the pregnancy, wwx and lwj dealing with wwx being ill and weak as his body struggles w/changes. A special doctor is contacted (from a different show, I think, but for me he was just an interesting OC) who comes to stay and monitor this, the first male pregnancy the cultivation world has ever seen. (Lan Xichen features as well: coming out of seclusion to help care for wwx and spend time with his old friend, the doctor, helps him to heal from his trauma.)
