“The pair fell into silence once again. Geralt watched Jaskier’s eyes flicker to the darkness around the camp, looking for something. Someone. Geralt felt Jaskier’s pulse grow faster once again as the bard stifled a yawn.
“What are you looking for?” Geralt asked apprehensively. His friend’s erratic behavior was beginning to unnerve him, and frankly, Geralt was worried about Jaskier. He felt like there was something the young bard wasn’t telling him, and he didn't like it.
Jaskier yawned again, eyes dark. “Him.” He answered finally. “I can feel him watching us.”

All may not have been right between them, but he felt sure it wasn’t too late to fix their friendship. His burgeoning hope is dashed, however, when they’re kidnapped and taken out to sea."Why don’t we head towards the coast…" Geralt cursed himself for making the suggestion as he woke up, restrained, with a splitting headache and a roiling stomach. Even before he opened his eyes he could tell he was tied back-to-back with Jaskier. At the mercy of unknown assailants. Again. He should’ve expected something like this to happen. Destiny was still a bitch, and at this point she was becoming a predictable one... At least the boat was new.

The guilt almost hurts just as the pain, remembering just how he treated Jaskier on the mountain almost a year ago. Forced to take a break from Witchering to recover from his wounds, Geralt and Jaskier find themselves settling into pleasant domesticity, between slip ups and make ups, and slipping into their easy, if sometimes one-sided, banter.
