“You go to bars all the time,” she pointed out.
“Yeah, but never with you,” he said, wriggling like he couldn’t contain his excitement. “We should go together.”
Before she even began to protest, Danny knew she was going to wind up giving in, but she put up a token resistance anyway. “I have work to do.” She held up her book.
Kirsch frowned at her, as if he couldn’t believe she would let work keep her from a bar. “But… you can do work later. Can’t you?”
His big, dumb, hopeful eyes stared up at her, and Danny felt all of her resolve disappear. “Yeah,” she said with a sigh. “I can work later. Let’s go to a bar.”
“YES!” Kirsch celebrated so enthusiastically he banged his arm against her doorknob and nearly punched himself in the face. “I’m gonna go take a shower. We’re going to a bar!” And he was off again.
