Summary
If the pacifistic Romeo has always seemed dispassionate, those close to him know it is because he was once under the thrall of the Capulet vampire, Tybalt. Thus denied his heart's true desire, Benvolio has settled for a relationship with Mercutio, but the wild child of the Montague household is inexplicably drawn to the danger of the enemy he claims to hate.
Meanwhile, biding his time, Tybalt has been waiting for the opportunity to reclaim his Montague prize while toying with the humans in an underground war that, to him, is merely play. Soon, on the eve of her birthday, Juliet will be turned, joining the ranks of the ancient Capulet rulers of Verona. To the Montagues, who represent the humans of the nation, this is a perversion of innocence that cannot be allowed. The wheel of fate begins to turn, and Romeo is brought into Tybalt's sphere once again.
