It's been a little over a year since the war ended. A little over a year since Lance had traveled the stars. He's getting restless, especially since his most recent epiphany that he, well, really doesn't want to be a farmer. So, he asks Keith to take him back into space for one of his missions. It's supposed to be simple. It's supposed to be fun.
It's not supposed to almost kill him.

“Lance,” he whispered, barely heard over the crowd’s screams. His eyes locked onto Lance’s, bright and wet and desperate. “Lance, I…”
They were taking too long. They weren’t fighting, they weren’t dying, they weren’t doing anything and the crowd was livid. It was blood they wanted to see spilled on the area’s floor, not tender embraces. Not almost-confessions.(No, not an almost-confession; it couldn’t have been that…
…but then what had Keith been about to say?)
Feeling a tear falling down his cheeks, Lance brushed away Keith’s bangs and whispered, “Keith, you know this is the only way. Either we both die or you live.”

When life planetside got too overwhelming for Keith to handle, he jumped ship and started working for the galaxy's premier delivery service. Staunchly against the idea of bonding with a guide, and unreliant on common suppressants, he took to the quiet of the stars instead, working as a courier for Marmoran Deliveries (Blades, they’re called, for the colored ribbon like particle trails their skip ships leave in space). Keith is content with his current life, lonely but full of sensations, until he’s contracted to a newly formed terran space station named the Atlas. All things considered, it should be like any other contract: jump back and forth between space ports, delivering messages under more secure measures. But things don't always work out like they're expected and Keith quickly find's himself drifting ever further into the orbit of the Atlas' curious captain.

“Don’t pick on her, you two. She’s probably the best fighter on Altea. I mean she was trained by King Lance, Queen Allura, and Paladin Pidge. She can shoot like a god, hack in her sleep, and look pretty while doing it.” Alister chuckled. Ana rolled her eyes.
“Of course I can. I am amazing after all. I could probably teach you all something or two.” Ana scoffed. Graven whistled.
“So you CAN talk. For a hot minute I thought you were mute.” Graven chuckled.
