"Natsu.. What happened to your hand?" She asks, worry creeping into her tone.
Shouto is confused for all of 3 seconds before he looks to the hand that Natsuo is holding his soda in. His knuckles are red, bruised and slightly bloody. Somewhere in his gut a chunk of ice sends a shiver through Shouto's body. Why is Natsuo coming home with bloody knuckles?
"Natsu..." Fuyumi continues, "did you get into a fight?".

In the grand scheme of things, Shouto knew this was illogical. Maybe it had just been a coincidence the other boy had happened to be at that shop at the same time as Shouto. There was also the fact that it was a Sunday and he might be doing any number of things besides shopping. Holding onto one of the overhead handles, he closed his eyes and took a slow breath through his nose as all the noise around him faded into the background. He’d been turning over that one interaction in his head for the better part of four months now. Objectively, he knew there shouldn’t be anything special about it. He’d dropped something, a stranger had picked it up, apologized, and left. It must happen to people all the time and nobody ever seemed to make a fuss about it. So why was he still hung up over it?
OR: By chance, Shouto meets Izuku before they officially start UA and can't get him out of his head.

School starts a month later. The day before the first day of classes, a YouTube video goes viral.
Todoroki Shouto sets his father’s new home ablaze with a furious blast of orange fire, then looks up at the security camera with a dull expression on his face. Next to him, a man with a patchwork face leers up at the camera before adding azure blue flames to the mix. They then disappear into the smoke and glowing ash like phantoms.
“He was supposed to be in our class,” their homeroom teacher, a tired-looking man named Aizawa, tells them. “No one is sure of his motives yet, but take this as a warning. Villainy will oftentimes catch you by surprise.”

Summary
Todoroki Shouto was immensely grateful for his lack of facial expressions.
He’d always been a person of few emotional tells, mostly because of his upbringing. Emotions weren’t something encouraged in the Todoroki household, so Shouto had to quickly learn how to keep things to himself. He learned to lie, learned to suppress his pain, and learned how to internalize his problems. He was not allowed to be weak, so he hid his thoughts behind a stoic face and short responses. The only times when he allowed himself to work out the bottled emotions was when he was alone, usually in the dead of night in a locked room. It was the only way in which he could keep everyone at a comfortable distance, ignorant to his weaknesses.
Which is why when he began to lose his grasp on his emotions, none of it showed on his face.
